Entertainment | Orange Is The New Black Season 5 Review (Spoilers)

Orange Is the New Black is now over for another year. I suppose it would last longer if I spaced the episodes out a bit more but binge watching over the space of two nights as soon as it's released is definitely more fun! The year long wait however for the next season, not so fun.

Season 5 was a little bit different compared to previous seasons but I honestly really enjoyed the show this year. It's taken me quite some time to compile my thoughts on this as I honestly have so much to say about it but I have finally managed to summarise both my strong and weak points and this post is a still little long! There will also be spoilers (nothing too huge) from this point on.

Theatre Review | Funny Girl UK Tour

After a sold out (and fastest selling ever I believe) year long run in London, Funny Girl is currently touring the UK. I got the chance to see recently and I was not disappointed. I didn’t really know much about it beforehand and I find these are usually the best shows!

The musical is set in 1920s New York and follows a women’s journey in becoming a star. Her relationship with big shot gambler Nick Arnstein also plays a big part in the story. It has the right mix of drama and comedy that makes you out laugh out loud but still keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Entertainment | My Top Ten at the Met Gala

With awards season now over, the Met Gala fills the void for best dressed lists! The trouble with the Met Gala for me is that fashion that you could consider as being 'out there' isn't really my thing so I don't often find many looks I really like at this event. However, this year's Met Gala was entirely different and I struggled to even pick a top ten!

Entertainment | Beauty and the Beast Review

As much I as I was looking forward to this film, I wondered if due to the massive hype surrounding it, it just wouldn’t be that great. I was pleased to be proven very wrong as this film is so, so good!

Beauty and the Beast is a live action adaptation of the classic animated Disney tale. It follows the 1991 version pretty closely with some scenes directly mirroring the original (but you might not notice that if you don’t like Beauty and the Beast as much as me).

Entertainment | My Best Dressed at the Oscars

Last night the Oscars finally came around so I'm back with another best dressed list! The Oscars are pitched as being the biggest award show of the season and it's usually where the celebrity fashion game is at it's absolute strongest (and weirdest to be somewhat fair).  The Oscars start too late in the night in the UK so I can't really ever watch the ceremony itself but I always check into the red carpet. In all honestly, I was really underwhelmed this year and quite frankly pretty disappointed. I didn't think the televised coverage was very good and the carpet was just generally quite long and slow moving. I thought the The Golden Globes were ace this year so maybe I was just expecting too much! Here are my best dressed celebs of the night:

Entertainment | Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

After nearly a five year absence, the Resident Evil franchise is back in cinemas with a disappointing limited release for its sixth and final instalment. Resident Evil could be considered the original Walking Dead, spanning over 15 years in cinemas. These movies will never be Academy Award winners but for me, have always delivered in terms of entertainment value.
After following the series for a number of years, it was great to finally see Milla Jovovich’s protagonist Alice finally embarking on taking down the evil Umbrella corporation for good. The plot was a little thin in places but the film was decent overall with the addition of a good few ‘jump scares’ (mostly due to Odeon’s booming sound system). There were a few familiar faces back too but I would have preferred to have seen more returning characters rather than the addition of Ruby Rose whose character is rather forgetful and really for the sake of a big celebrity name.

I think this film would be pretty meaningless if you haven’t watched any of the previous instalments but definitely worth seeing in cinemas if you’re a fan. Even picking up the boxset of past films would be a good way to spend a weekend if you like zombies. Resident Evil was a bit like Harry Potter for me,  I could return to the cinema to watch another part to the story year after year for quite a long time. It's a franchise that I will certainly miss. It was not a spectacular end to the franchise but certainly a good one.

Have you seen the latest Resident Evil? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
