Cabin Life.

Last month, I went on a family holiday to a log cabin! This was something I wanted to do for quite a while and it was so much fun as it's an entirely different kind of holiday! Due to one thing or another, we ended up booking 3 nights away in the cabin pretty last minute. It was completely different than what I expected but it was such a nice trip! I expected the park to be a holiday park like the size of the ones for caravans but there couldn't of been more than 15 or so lodges there. They advertised that they had little phone signal but did provide wifi. Let me tell you, there was no phone signal and wifi that was so bad that it may as well not of even been there! It was in such a remote location that it was about half an hour each way to get any sign of signal on your phone and that was a struggle when you use the internet a lot like me and want to share pics of your hols on Instagram! The cabins themselves were lovely but it was a long journey to reach anywhere. I've got some photos to share of the common sights around the area that emphasise who much in the middle of nowhere the cabins actually were!

We pulled over at the side of the road a few times to get some pictures of the scenery as this is all you could see for miles. Stunning views in the area!

It got to the stage where it was no longer surprising to see wild animals blocking roads and footpaths.  Living in 'civilisation' as we were joking, you see nothing like that at home. We weaved around this group of cows as the black one looked particularly mad!

This cute little baby cow ran up the path and kept looking back as if to let us know to walk this way to reach the gate out of the field!

Literally just fields and trees everywhere.

Most of the roads were either single lane dirt tracks or two lanes that were extremely windy and bumpy roads. It was like they had just placed roads down in the wilderness! There were so many fields and forests that it was like you were travelling to nowhere. On this day, we managed to spot a rainbow!

We walked 6 miles to see this waterfall and didn't even manage to see it all that day. What was supposed to be 'a nice walk' was a trek through country roads, a farm, a field, stepping stones which were more like a rock pool, another field and a forest. I could of cried at the thought of walking back  and my hay fever got so bad I had to wear my sunglasses (it wasn't even sunny) to stop rubbing my eyes. We also did this walk to find duck eggs (and searched the rest of our holiday for) which we didn't get and bought when we got home at a supermarket. We ended up taking the car back to the waterfall the next day to see the lower falls which were down a massive windy hill in the forest! We never could of done that after walking so far!

The cabin itself though was beautiful and I loved watching TV at nights with the fire on. The owners provided baskets of wood for us to burn in the log fire. The lack of wifi restricted us to something like 6 channels but Twilight was on one night which was a favourite of mine in my teens!

The absolute highlight for us in the cabin was that we had our very own hot tub out on the decking! It was very cosy but not as bubbly as the ones you find at swimming pools, It was so much fun sitting outside in at night. It had lights built in so we used at 11pm one night too! It was kept running all day so you didn't have to wait hours for the water to heat up which was ideal. I would rush back to the cabin if I could as the hot tub was so good!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Have you been away anywhere this summer?
