BLOGMAS DAY 8 - Gift Inspiration: For The Binge Watcher

I kind of pride myself in a giving a good TV recommendation so I thought I would share some boxsets that I think a Binge Watcher would love if you are looking for some gift ideas! Providing they haven't seen them already of course. I did a similar post to this last year during Blogmas, some of my picks are the same as I feel they are good enough to mention again! However, I have thrown in some new ones this time round that I think would make great gifts this Christmas.

Pretty Little Liars

PLL was my absolute baby back in 2010 as I literally knew no one who watched it and I could never understand why! I would say of the past year or so it has exploded (probably thanks to Netflix) and now everyone and their cat watches this show. I have never been able to binge watch Pretty Little Liars due to following it for so long now, it has always been a week by week show for me. However, I feel like this would be a brilliant and compelling show to delve into.  If you are totally unfamiliar with this show, it follows the lives of four teenage girls whose friend Alison goes missing one night . Her body is later found so she is presumed to be murdered. The girls are apart for a while before they begin receiving threatening texts from someone called 'A'. Six seasons of mystery follow to discover not only who A is but what really happened to Alison!

Girls

One of my recommendations from last year was Lena Dunham's series Girls. I really think this is a hidden TV gem as it is so quirky and funny. I read once that this show was supposed to be an accurate representation of young women in New York that isn't glamorous like Gossip Girl or Sex and the City. It follows the ups and downs of Lena Dunham's character, Hannah, and her three best friends so I feel to an extent is is quite relatable for most people. I think this series would be a great gift for a female who is looking for something that's just a bit different!

That 70's Show

I adore That 70's Show for so many reasons. The selling point of this show now is definitely that it's cast are so famous that it is brilliant to look back at them at the start of their career. The cast contains Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon, Topher Grace, Wilmer Valderrama and Danny Masterson who now can all be seen in a variety of different things. As the title suggests, this sitcom revolves around a bunch of teenagers in the 1970s. It's hard to sum up as there is no real central plot but I enjoyed watching it so much. It was one I had never really seen when it was on air in the late 90s/early 2000s. The complete box set is pretty expensive but you could always buy your loved one a Netflix gift card as all eight seasons are available on there!

Orphan Black

Another recommendation from last year was Orphan Black which is a show that is honestly immense viewing and I feel barely anyone has heard of it. This show is about clones and Tatiana Maslany expertly plays them all. Her performance is truly incredible as she showcases so many different characters with polar opposite personalities. I can almost guarantee that you would race your way through the first season.

Orange Is The New Black

One of my absolute favourites recently is this particular Netflix Original. If you aren't a stranger to my blog, you'll know how much I appreciate Orange Is The New Black. I think it maybe is a little bit of a love/hate show and it's also quite graphic so it might not be for everyone. It's based in a woman's minimum security prison and begins with the story of Piper Chapman who is serving a 15 month sentence for smuggling drug money for her ex-girlfriend. The show has ran 3 seasons now and the focus has shifted off Piper quite considerably onto the ensemble who are so fantastically diverse. This show is hilarious but very heart warming and emotional too.

American Horror Story

This pick is a bit out there compared to the others but if you know someone who likes something a bit scarier, I couldn't recommend this more! I feel like the earlier seasons are much stronger than the newer episodes but each season of American Horror Story stands alone so you don't really need to keep up with it. They are starting to subtly link them together now though if you want to gift them all! My personal favourites are Murder House (Season 1) and Coven (Season 3). I love how they use the majority of the same cast members each time and it's pretty amazing how they transform them into new characters each year.

The Big Bang Theory

Like Pretty Little Liars, The Big Bang Theory has a massive following but this is a show I think could be watched over and over again and it would still be funny. The Big Bang Theory is based around the lives of four scientists and their friend Penny, with the addition of their partners in later seasons. Their antics are truly laugh out loud entertainment. I only started watching when this was on Season 5 so I had a blast watching through so many episodes. Therefore, I think this boxset would be the perfect gift for someone who hasn't seen it before!

I hope you enjoyed this post. I'm always looking for new TV Shows so please feel free to leave me a recommendation in the comments!
